Editorial Standards
Last updated: 24 April 2026
This document describes the editorial rules that govern every article published on Maxim88 sports. It sits alongside our editorial team page, which describes who publishes the content, and our review methodology page, which describes how we assess sportsbooks. Together, these three documents make our editorial process transparent to readers, regulators, and search-engine quality raters.
Fact-Checking
Every numerical claim, legal reference, licensing detail, price example, and regulatory statement in our articles is checked against at least one primary source before publication. Claims drawn from secondary sources (news articles, industry blog posts) are treated as leads to be verified against the primary source β not as facts in themselves. If a primary source cannot be found for a material claim, either the claim is removed or the sentence is rewritten to reflect the actual uncertainty.
For rapidly changing facts β such as the current rights-holder of Premier League broadcasts in Singapore, or the current state of a sportsbook's licensing β we link to the official source so readers can verify current status themselves, rather than stating a fact that may change within weeks.
Sources We Use
Our Singapore-specific content relies on these primary sources:
- Regulation and law: Singapore Statutes Online for the Remote Gambling Act 2014 and related legislation; the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Singapore (GRA) website for licensing and enforcement.
- Tax: Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) published guidance on personal income tax.
- Responsible gambling: National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) and the 1800-6-668-668 helpline.
- Operators: Singapore Pools' published market listings, terms, and operator filings; Singapore Turf Club's official race programmes and form guides.
- Leagues and events: The Premier League, UEFA, La Liga, Singapore Premier League, Singapore Turf Club, MPL Singapore, ESL, PGL, Riot Games (VCT) β in each case the official source.
- Statistics: HLTV for CS2, Dotabuff and Liquipedia for Dota 2, Liquipedia for MLBB, OP.GG for League of Legends, Understat and fbref for football performance data.
Corrections Policy
We welcome corrections. If a reader identifies a factual error in any article, contact editorial@maxim88sports.bet and the issue will be investigated within two business days. Our corrections policy has three tiers:
- Minor correction (typo, broken link, outdated minor detail): corrected silently. The article's last-reviewed date is updated to reflect the fix.
- Material correction (incorrect regulatory claim, misstated price, wrong licensing information): corrected promptly, with a dated correction note appended to the affected article explaining what was fixed and when. Older copies of the content (social shares, cached pages) are not purged, but the authoritative version on this site is accurate.
- Retraction (content so materially wrong that correction is inadequate): the article is removed and replaced with a notice explaining the retraction. Retractions are rare but possible, and we log them in a publicly visible manner.
Conflict of Interest and Affiliate Disclosure
Maxim88 Sports participates in affiliate marketing programmes. Some links on our site β including Login and Join Now buttons β are affiliate links that earn us a commission if you sign up or deposit with the operator. Our editorial independence is protected through the rules documented in our review methodology: pillar scores are calculated before commercial status is considered; low-rated operators cannot be promoted based on affiliate performance; and the Head of Editorial has final authority over coverage.
The specific disclosures we make:
- Every review page that contains an affiliate link includes a disclosure in the article body.
- Our about page explains the affiliate relationship at the site level.
- Our terms and conditions formalise the disclosure as a binding part of using the site.
- Content authored without an active affiliate arrangement is treated identically to content where we hold one β the assessment framework applies uniformly.
Responsible Gambling Alignment
Every article on the site adheres to four responsible-gambling rules. First, all content is intended for readers aged 21 and over β the minimum legal betting age in Singapore. Second, we do not use language that promises or implies guaranteed winnings; our content explicitly acknowledges that betting involves risk. Third, we promote responsible-gambling resources prominently, including the National Problem Gambling Helpline (1800-6-668-668) on every page footer and a full responsible gambling resource page. Fourth, we do not create content specifically designed to trigger problem-gambling behaviours β no urgency-based "last chance" framing, no emphasis on chasing losses, no features aimed at people showing signs of addiction.
Content Freshness and Review Cycles
Gambling information changes quickly. Rights rotate, sportsbooks rebrand, regulations update, and tax treatment shifts. To keep articles accurate, we apply the following review cycles:
- Hub pages (/football-betting/, /esports-betting/, /horse-racing/, /betting-guide/): reviewed every 6 months.
- Evergreen spoke articles (e.g. Asian handicap explainer, how to open a Singapore Pools account): reviewed every 12 months.
- Time-sensitive content (season previews, specific event guides, live streaming rights pages): reviewed at the start of each relevant cycle and before the content becomes a primary traffic driver.
- Regulatory and tax content: reviewed any time a relevant regulatory change is announced, plus an annual review regardless.
- Review pages (sportsbook reviews): reviewed every 12 months by default, sooner if a material event triggers an update (enforcement action, rebrand, licence change).
Every article shows a "Last updated" date where relevant, reflecting the most recent substantive review, not just a typo fix.
Accessibility and Plain Language
We write for an educated adult general reader, not for finance or legal specialists. Technical terms (overround, margin, handicap, pari-mutuel) are defined on first use within each article, not assumed. Sentences are kept at average reading difficulty β most articles target a Flesch readability score that corresponds to a Singapore O-level reader. Tables and lists are used wherever they communicate information more clearly than prose.
Plagiarism and Originality
All content on Maxim88 Sports is originally researched and written by our editorial team. We do not republish content from other sites, even with attribution. Short quotations from primary sources are used where relevant with attribution to the source. If you believe any content on this site infringes your copyright, contact legal@maxim88sports.bet.
