About Maxim88

The Maxim88 Sports Editorial Team

How our Singapore sports betting content is researched, written and reviewed — the roles, expertise and publication process behind every article.

The Maxim88 Sports Editorial Team

Every article on Maxim88 is produced by a small editorial team of Singapore-based researchers and writers with backgrounds in sports betting, esports, horse racing and online gambling regulation. This page explains how the team is structured, what expertise each role brings, and how work moves from research through review to publication. It sits alongside our review methodology and editorial standards — together these three documents describe how the site operates.

How the Team Is Structured

The Maxim88 Sports editorial team is organised around four functional roles. Individual contributors may cover more than one role at a time, and the team draws on external subject-matter experts (horse racing form analysts, professional esports commentators) for specialist input on specific pieces. The four core roles are:

Head of Editorial

Responsible for the site's overall content strategy, quality bar, and publication schedule. The Head of Editorial approves every new spoke article before publication, signs off on substantial updates to existing content, and is the final decision-maker on corrections and retractions. This role is also the point of contact for external complaints, press queries, and partnership proposals at editorial@maxim88sports.bet.

Senior Sports Analyst — Football & Horse Racing

Responsible for all football and horse racing content on the site. This role's expertise covers the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, La Liga, Serie A, Singapore Pools football markets, Asian handicap mechanics, Singapore Turf Club racing and international simulcast racing. The Senior Sports Analyst writes or reviews every football and racing article before it passes to the Head of Editorial for final approval.

Esports Editor

Responsible for all esports content, including CS2, Dota 2, League of Legends, Valorant, Mobile Legends (MLBB) and the Singapore and Southeast Asia regional competitive scenes. This role follows HLTV, Liquipedia, MPL SG, ESL SEA, VCT Pacific and the Dota Pro Circuit on an ongoing basis. Roster changes, patch-note impact on meta, and tournament schedule shifts are monitored so that the site's esports content remains current.

Compliance & Regulatory Reviewer

Responsible for the regulatory accuracy of all content that touches Singapore law, licensing, taxation, responsible gambling resources and affiliate disclosure requirements. The Compliance Reviewer cross-checks every new article against the Remote Gambling Act 2014, current Singapore Pools licensing terms, IRAS tax treatment of gambling winnings, and the National Council on Problem Gambling guidance. Any article that references legislation or licensing must pass compliance review before publication.

Collective Expertise

Across the four roles, the team brings combined practical experience in:

The Publication Process

Every article published on Maxim88 Sports goes through a four-stage process:

  1. Research. The assigned writer gathers primary sources — official league rulebooks, Singapore Pools market listings, Singapore Turf Club race programmes, HLTV rankings, Liquipedia event pages, IRAS guidance notes, and relevant Singapore government publications. Claims about dates, prices, regulations, or statistics are traced to their source.
  2. Drafting. The writer produces the full article, with internal citations kept alongside in a working document for later fact-checking. Drafts are written with the Singapore reader in mind — examples use SGD, references are to Singapore-relevant operators and events, and regulatory framing applies Singapore law.
  3. Review. The draft is reviewed by the relevant Senior Analyst (sports or esports) for factual accuracy and market-specific correctness. The Compliance & Regulatory Reviewer separately checks any regulatory, legal, tax or responsible-gambling content. Corrections and clarifications are made before the draft moves on.
  4. Final approval & publication. The Head of Editorial reads the reviewed draft end-to-end, verifies tone and alignment with site standards, and publishes the article. The canonical URL, metadata and internal links are set at this stage, and the article's publication date is recorded for future freshness reviews.

Articles are typically re-reviewed on a 12-month cycle, or sooner if a regulatory change, sportsbook rebrand, or material market shift makes an update necessary. The full freshness policy is described in our editorial standards document.

Independence and Affiliate Disclosure

Maxim88 Sports participates in affiliate marketing programmes with some of the sportsbooks mentioned on this site. Affiliate relationships are fully disclosed in our about page and our terms. Editorial independence is maintained by the following rules: no sportsbook has any influence on our editorial coverage; we do not accept payment in exchange for positive reviews; operators we rate poorly remain rated poorly regardless of whether they pay an affiliate commission; and the Head of Editorial has the sole authority to decide whether and how any sportsbook is covered.
